Mission Restore our Oceans and Waters

With a target date of 2030, the EU Mission "Restoring our oceans and waters aims to protect and restore the health of oceans and waters through research and innovation, citizen engagement and blue investments. This new approach considers the ocean and waters as a whole and plays a key role in achieving climate neutrality and restoring nature.

This objective will be supported by a number of cross-functional initiatives, including broad public involvement and mobilisation, as well as a digital ocean and water knowledge system, known as the "Ocean Information System". " Digital Twin Ocean ".

The Mission encourages regional involvement and cooperation through "Lighthouses located in the main sea and river basins: Atlantic-Arctic, Mediterranean Sea, Baltic-North Sea and Danube-Black Sea. These headlights are pilot sites for testing, demonstrating, developing and deploying the Mission's activities on the scale of the EU's seas and river basins.
