The programme aims to simplify access to funding and enhance collaboration opportunities for Europe\u2019s most promising innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"608\">The EIC work programme 2026 details the funding in five main schemes, each targeting different stage of innovation:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"2320\">\n<li data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"840\">\n<p data-start=\"612\" data-end=\"840\"><strong data-start=\"612\" data-end=\"653\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eic.ec.europa.eu\/eic-funding-opportunities\/eic-pathfinder_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EIC Pathfinder<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(\u20ac262 million)<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>for multi-disciplinary research teams to undertake visionary research with the potential to lead to technology breakthroughs (grants up to \u20ac4 million).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"1244\">\n<p data-start=\"844\" data-end=\"1244\"><strong data-start=\"844\" data-end=\"885\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eic.ec.europa.eu\/eic-funding-opportunities\/eic-transition_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EIC Transition<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(\u20ac100 million)<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>to turn research results into innovation opportunities, following up on results generated by EIC Pathfinder, European Research Council Proof of Concept, Horizon Europe Pillar 2 (societal challenges) collaborative projects and Research Infrastructures projects (grants up to \u20ac2.5 million).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1558\">\n<p data-start=\"1248\" data-end=\"1558\"><strong data-start=\"1248\" data-end=\"1303\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eic.ec.europa.eu\/eic-funding-opportunities\/advanced-innovation-challenges-pilot_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advanced Innovation Challenges<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(\u20ac6 million)<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>to support high-risk, demand-driven deep tech innovation with transformative potential especially in areas where there is extensive research but lack of commercial uptake (\u20ac300,000 lump sum)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1560\" data-end=\"1855\">\n<p data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1855\"><strong data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1604\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eic.ec.europa.eu\/eic-funding-opportunities\/eic-accelerator_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EIC Accelerator<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(\u20ac634 million)<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>for start-ups and SMEs to develop and scale up innovations with the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones (grants below \u20ac2.5 million, investments from \u20ac0.5 to \u20ac10 million).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1857\" data-end=\"2320\">\n<p data-start=\"1859\" data-end=\"2320\"><strong data-start=\"1859\" data-end=\"1950\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eic.ec.europa.eu\/eic-funding-opportunities\/step-scale_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The EIC Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) Scale Up<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(\u20ac300 million)<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>, which will provide additional equity funding to promising companies (SMEs, start-ups, spin-offs and small mid-caps) driving innovation in critical areas to help them secure larger private co-investment rounds of \u20ac50 million or above for further scaling their businesses (investments from \u20ac10 to \u20ac30 million).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.7&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"40\" data-end=\"103\"><strong data-start=\"43\" data-end=\"103\">Key highlights of the 2026 EIC Work Programme<\/strong><strong data-start=\"43\" data-end=\"103\"><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"105\" data-end=\"171\"><strong data-start=\"109\" data-end=\"171\">1. Simpler and faster EIC Accelerator Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"173\" data-end=\"323\">The EIC Accelerator, the EU\u2019s flagship funding instrument for high-potential startups and SMEs, application process will be simpler:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"325\" data-end=\"602\">\n<li data-start=\"325\" data-end=\"388\">\n<p data-start=\"327\" data-end=\"388\">Application forms will be reduced from 50 to 20 pages;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"389\" data-end=\"479\">\n<p data-start=\"391\" data-end=\"479\">Evaluation rounds will take place every two months (instead of biannually) ;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"480\" data-end=\"602\">\n<p data-start=\"482\" data-end=\"602\">The process will include stronger technology assessments to streamline investment due diligence.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"826\">Since its launch under Horizon Europe, the EIC Accelerator has attracted more than 15,000 applications and supported over 300 innovative companies through equity investments and blended finance.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"889\"><strong data-start=\"837\" data-end=\"889\">2. Advanced Innovation Challenges (Pilot Phase)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"891\" data-end=\"1247\">Inspired by the U.S. ARPA model, the EIC will launch<span>\u00a0<\/span><em data-start=\"943\" data-end=\"975\">Advanced Innovation Challenges<\/em>targeting high-risk, high-reward research areas. These challenge-driven calls will fund bold, mission-oriented projects in strategic sectors such as AI, climate adaptation, and critical raw materials.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1249\" data-end=\"1510\">Projects will receive staged funding, initially supporting multiple approaches to a given challenge, followed by larger grants for the most promising solutions to prototype and test with end users.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1517\" data-end=\"1591\"><strong data-start=\"1521\" data-end=\"1591\">3. Support for the EU Startup and Scaleup Strategy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1593\" data-end=\"1702\">The 2026 programme will also strengthen initiatives under the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/strategy\/strategy-research-and-innovation\/jobs-and-economy\/eu-startup-and-scaleup-strategy_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Startup and Scaleup Strategy<\/a>, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1704\" data-end=\"1987\">\n<li data-start=\"1704\" data-end=\"1798\">\n<p data-start=\"1706\" data-end=\"1798\">The<span>\u00a0<\/span><em data-start=\"1709\" data-end=\"1737\">European Corporate Network<\/em>, expanding on successful EIC corporate days;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1799\" data-end=\"1878\">\n<p data-start=\"1801\" data-end=\"1878\">Enhanced services for internationalisation and market access;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1879\" data-end=\"1987\">\n<p data-start=\"1881\" data-end=\"1987\">A<span>\u00a0<\/span><em data-start=\"1884\" data-end=\"1898\">Gender Index<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>to monitor and promote women&#8217;s participation in innovation ecosystems.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"2190\">Additionally, the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) call, offering investments of up to \u20ac30 million per project, will continue in 2026 following strong uptake in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.7&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; border_width_all=&#8221;2px&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"40\" data-end=\"59\"><strong data-start=\"43\" data-end=\"59\"><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 data-start=\"40\" data-end=\"59\"><strong data-start=\"43\" data-end=\"59\"><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 data-start=\"40\" data-end=\"59\"><strong data-start=\"43\" data-end=\"59\">EIC Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong data-start=\"43\" data-end=\"59\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"61\" data-end=\"416\">With an overall budget exceeding \u20ac10 billion for 2021-2027, the European Innovation Council remains a high priority of the EU\u2019s Horizon Europe programme.
